Staples Removed!

Colin had his head wrap and staples removed on Friday April 6th. After this shot he got new bandages and head wrap that he will continue to wear through April 19th, the date of is his second surgery to implant the boxes. He was so relieved and finally smiled once all was removed.

A closeup of the 22 staples that had to be removed plus a few on the side that can’t be seen in the picture. The removal of the bandages and tape from the hair prior to this shot actually proved to be more painful than the removal of the staples. Now we are just looking forward to a successful 2nd surgery and programming.

We hope everyone is enjoying their Easter Sunday!

    Hi Colin,
It’s Ms JoJo finally checking in!! It looks like you are doing GREAT, it’s awesome to see that beautiful smile!!! I read all the postings and laughed when I read about the tape removal being painful. There is nothing worse than that stupid tape coming off!!! Why don’t they put some numbing medicine on the sticky part of the tape so it doesn’t hurt so much when they take it off???

I have been busy, since we had Spring Break last week. On the 31st we flew over to Hawaii, the Big Island for a weeks vacation. My husband and I saved for 5 years to take this trip. We decided it was a once in a lifetime trip so we brought the kids with us. We took lots of hikes on hard lava rocks, stayed on a black sand beach, did some kayaking, and snorkeling. My favorite part was going to the Green Sand Beach which we had to 4WD to and then hike down to the beach. If you have a chance have you should google it, it’s cool and yes the sand was really green!!

Today is our first day back at school. I sure do miss our 12:30 dates and I always feel like something is missing from my day! I can’t wait for you to get back here!!! I’m keeping you in my positive thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, Colin!!!

    Hi Colin,
HOOORAY!! I’m sure it felt good to get the bandage off for a while. Yes, that silly tape can be the worst! I know it is bad even when it is on your arm for an IV (I can only imagine on your head with lots of little hairs). It is like getting a free waxing (ask your mom). We were so glad to get an update and super happy to hear that you are healing well and everything is going fantastic. We will continue to pray for your recovery and 2nd surgery. we miss you lots.
    Love ya,
    Moe Family
